Charlie Adlard @ Shrewsbury Comic Con 2024 draws Carol Peletier from the Walking Dead

One of the headlining guests at Shrewsbury Comic Con was comic artist Charlie Adlard. Known for his work on 2000ad (Rebellion), The X-Files (Topps) and the original Walking Dead comic (Image). We at Blast Process first encountered his work whilst he was illustrating the original X-Files comic.

Indeed Neil has an X-Files ashcan comic with a Mars Attack Martian on it courtesy of Mr Adlard during an appearance at Nostalgia & Comics. He was even the second Comic Laureate (2017 -2019) and during the handover to Hannah Berry (2019 - 2021) he did a a series of sketches for Neil at the Cartoon Museum in 2019.    • Charlie Adlard @ The Cartoon Museum D...

Anyway on this occasion he was drawing commission sketches and here we see Carol from the Walking Dead being drawn.

Shrewsbury Comic Con 2024

Whilst the country was experiencing Storm Kathleen the intrepid duo of Mike and Neil ventured into darkest Shropshire to New Meadow; the home ground of Shrewsbury Town FC. For this was the venue for the first* Shrewsbury Comic Con.

The event started before you got inside with celebrity cars and activities in the club's carpark. Within the building saw a full schedule of panels and a cosplay contest on the ground floor with a separate room for the tabletop gaming displays. Upstairs on the first floor there were dealers along with the named guests when they were not in panels.

Armed with the BlastProcess camera we recorded our adventure so please enjoy our little video of the day. For further details of the event please follow the link below and why not follow Shrewsbury Comic Con on social media as well for future announcements.

Comics Salopia 2021 Launch and Comics Trail #ComicsTrail2021

Comics Salopia 2021 took place earlier in the year but fear not as Blastprocess was there.

In this belated coverage introduced by Festival Director Shane Chebsey you see the comics guests in attendance and take a tour of the Comics Trail.

Apart from meeting the artists there were comics masterclasses for children and a comics trail featuring the local area (Shrewsbury). Composed of 9 pieces of art at selected locations each piece had been created by a noted comics artist and the accompanying text was written by British Comics Legend John Wagner.
